Chamber Challenge
The Annual Chamber Challenge, when Wanderers compete against the Chamber Exiles Squash Club, was held on World Squash Day, the 10th October. This challenge has been running for 4 years and comprises 15-20 players of all levels from each Club to go head-to-head with each other. We kicked-off at 9-ish and played some hectic singles squash (3 straight games to 15, with a point for each game won). The Chamber, under the expert guidance of Dave “Feathers” Peacock, were obviously smarting after losing the trophy for 2 years running! Their Club Chairman even arranged an overseas trip to avoid the ignominy of another defeat! However, owing to some last-minute creativity, the Chamber managed to drag-up some hot-shot players who caught us unawares and took us to pieces. I think Feathers got some inspiration from Eddie Jones’ stewardship of Japan against mighty opposition! OK, well done Chamber, but keep that trophy polished….we want it back in good nick.
The event closed-off with a nice lunch from Silvasales and the handing-over of the floating trophy to a smiling Dave Peacock.
