Cheyna Tucker, who has jumped 20 places in the past 2 months on the world rankings, was 2 games all and 9 points all against England’s Victoria Bell on Saturday in the semi-finals of the Mackay Open in Australia when she seems to have torn her Achilles tendon. She is on her way back to South Africa for a final diagnosis. Tucker has reached three consecutive semi-finals in 3 weekends.
Her place in the team will be taken by the non-travelling reserve Senade Haupt, a Tukkies student.
