Steve Coppinger, ranked 16 in the World , is seeded to collect his sixth national title when the championships start at the Wanderers Club on Monday 5th August. Seeded to meet Coppinger in the final on Saturday 10th August is Clinton Leeuw.
Rodney Durbach (WP) and Thoboki Mohohlo are seeded to reach the semi-finals, where Durbach should clash with Coppinger and Mohohlo with Leeuw.
Three Capetonians dominate the women’s seedings led by Siyoli Waters , last year’s losing finalist the number 1 seed. Milnay Louw and Alexandra Fuller are the third and fourth seeds. The interloper is UJ student, Cheyna Tucker, the second seed. Waters is drawn to meet Louw in the semi-finals while Fuller and Tucker are scheduled for repeat clashes of the USSA Championships in July as well as the Kaplan Cup in Port Elizabeth.
The Men’s Qualifying rounds will be played on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th at the Wanderers with both the men’s and women’s events starting at the same venue on Monday 5th.
The quarterfinal matches will be split over two days: Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th August, followed by the semi-finals on Friday 9th August.
The finals of the championships , registered as PSA and WSA events, so that the registered players can earn points, will be on Saturday morning , 10th August.
