It was smiles all around tonight as the last Bull Ring Open quarter-final match came to its conclusion.

Christo Potgieter (RSA) secured his first semi-final spot for quite some time, after defeating fellow countryman and close friend, Jean-Pierre Brits (RSA) 3-1 (11/8, 10/12, 12/9, 11/5) in 57 minutes.

PSA player of the month, Mohammed El Sherbini (EGY), could do no wrong as he beat Mark Fuller (ENG) 3-0 (11/8, 11/5, 11/7) in 46min. Speaking to him after the match, he said, “I knew I just had to run and keep the rallies going. It worked in my favour and that’s why I’m in the semi-finals.”

South African, Milnay Louw, didn’t waste any time on court beating number 6 seed, Elise Romba (FRA) 3-0 (11/7, 11/4, 11/4) in 20 minutes, whilst Ineta Mackevica (LAT) took the same line as Louw, also beating her opponent, Alexa Pienaar, 3-0 (11/4, 11/4, 11/8) in 24 minutes.

Nadia Pfister (SUI) showed her potential in the first game against Alex Fuller (RSA) by taking it 15/13, but Fuller made the necessary changes to win her match 3-1 (13/15, 11/4, 11/5, 11/8) in 38 minutes.

The semi-finals are set to be very exciting with lots of home interest for the local spectators:
