The semi-finals of the Mens Balwin Assore Gauteng Open was very one sided.
Essam number 1 seed seemed to be very tired from his hard 3/2 match the day before and Romiglio was onto the ball quickly. Romiglio played at a fast pace and hit the ball to a good length thereby not giving Essam time to play his game.
The same was in the second semi-final with Rehman making short work of the young South African Groenewald. Rehman put Groenewald under extreme pressure by taking the ball early and taking advantage of Groenewald’s loose balls.
The ladies event also saw the two winners going through with ease.
Rowan Elaraby was like a butterfly on the court. She moved with such grace and agility and displayed world class shot making. At no time was she put under any pressure from Lume Landman and glided through to the next round and finals of the event with ease.
Milnay Louw was also uncontested by Elani Landman who did not seem to get into the game at all. Louw played good hard constructed rallies and had Landman running all over the court and forced Landman to try to go for the early winner resulting in many errors.
The finals start at 17:00 at Parkview Squash Centre with the ladies up first.
