Day 5 of the Keith Grainger Memorial UCT Squash Open came to the close with the completion of the 1st round of the PSA Men’s Main event and the announcement of the 4 South African qualifiers filtering into the Women’s PSA main event.
All courts were jam packed with 6 other sections of the tournament also taking place ranging from the over 60 year old masters players to the UCT students in the Open B section.
In the PSA draws local South African crowds will be pleased to see 9 South African men progress into the 2nd round and 13 South African ladies in the women’s event. Match of the evening had to be 2014 Tournament winner Oliver Plett from England up against flamboyant Christo Potgieter seen attached in last years event (photo by Oak Pics). Nothing separated the players in the opening 3 games with players going for it rally for rally. It was the South African in the 4th game that seem to keep his composure and ensure a solid win 3-1.
