SA’s Steve Coppinger causes an upset in the first round of the US Open Squash Championships.
Steve Coppinger, ranked 15 in the world caused a major upset in the US Open Squash Championships being played in Philadelphia when he outplayed 4th seeded Miguel Angel Rodriquez of Columbia 12-10 116 11-7.
Coppinger played 70 minutes of clinically controlled squash to oust Rodriquez ranked 10 places above him. Coppinger now meets Daryl Selby of England.

Steve Coppinger retains his top 20 rankings in the October list released by the PSA (Professional Squash Players Association).
