Squash South Africa falls under SASCOC (South African Sport Confederation and Olympic Committee) for multi-coded games like the Commonwealth Games.
The South Africa Men’s team – Steve Coppinger, Shaun Le Roux, Clinton Leeuw and Rodney Durbach – finished 6th at the Men’s World Team Championships in Mulhouse, France in 2013, which was 3rd in the Commonwealth, but we are not regarded as a team sport like Hockey and Netball.
SASCOC’s selection criteria was that the individual athlete or the team had to be 5th in the Commonwealth. Steve Coppinger, ranked 21 in the world, would have been seeded 6th (with the random draw method seeds 5-8 are drawn) but sadly, Steve was not selected by SASCOC to be part of Team South Africa.
Other African Countries e.g. Lesotho, Zambia may enter independently.
