Squash SA congratulates Jason le Roux and Cara Fourie for being selected as the Coaches for the World Squash Men’s and Women’s Junior Team and Invididual Championships in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada in July.
Jason, who coaches top SA women’s player and world #72 Hayley Ward out of Nelson Mandela Bay, has been the NMU coach for the past 13 years. He was the coach for the SA u23 team to Pakistan at World u23 Championships in 2025 that helped lay the groundwork for his role at this year’s junior Worlds.
Jason said “It’s an honour and a privilege to be selected as the SA Junior Boys coach. I’m excited to embrace the responsibility of getting to know the players, sharpening mindsets, and preparing the team to be confident and competitive on the world stage.”
Cara Fourie is no stranger to the World Championships as she previously managed the junior ladies teams that went to France, Australia and Egypt. She is based in Potchefstroom, North West, where she invests her time in the development and coaching of young squash players of all ages in Potchefstroom, with excellent results.
Cara has played in 20 Jarvis/Kaplan cup tournaments and knows the pressures of competing at the highest level.
She said “I am deeply honoured to be selected as coach of the South African World Junior Squash team. This is an exciting time for junior squash in South Africa, with positive changes creating new opportunities for growth and development. I’m proud to support our juniors as they represent South Africa on the world stage. With squash now included in the Olympic Games, it’s a privilege to be part of shaping the future of the sport and helping our young athletes reach their full potential.”
Squash SA wishes the coaches and the teams the best of luck with their preparations.
