Second seed, Tayyab Aslam (Pak), 6th seed Anthony Graham (Eng) and 7th seed Jean-Pierre Brits of South Africa were tumbled out of the first round of the Central Gauteng Open Squash Championships being played at the Parkview Squash Centre, Johannesburg.
Aslam took the first game easily at 9-3 against 23 year old Michael Wood before the former Border player, now based in Gauteng, levelled at one game all and coasted through the next two games 11-8 11-4.
Former British and European Junior champion , Anthony Graham, who was born in Mutare, Zimbabwe had no answer to Kyle Maree’s attacking play and faded in straight games.
Pakistan’s Amaad Fareed who had upset Tayyab Aslam in the Northerns Open last week outplayed Jean-Pierre Brits in four games to go through to the last 16.
The first round of the women’s draw and the second of the men’s together with play in various other sections takes place from 17h00 This afternoon at Parkview Centre.
