Unseeded Diana Haynes (Central Gauteng) the 2012 S A National champion will meet fellow South African, second seeded Siyoli Waters, ranked 40 in the world, in the final of the Assore Central Gauteng WSA final this evening (Friday) at the Parkview Centre at 18h30.
In the semi-final played last evening, Haynes upset top seeded Kylie Lindsay of New Zealand in five games. Ranked 39 in the world, Lindsay led by two games to one but a determined Haynes won the fourth game 11-5 to level the match and edged through the decide 11-7.
Waters lost the first game to Egyptian Salma Nasser, but thereafter gained control taking the next three games comfortably 11-5 11-4 11-5.
The men’s final will be an all Egyptian affair between top seed Mohamed Abouelghar and unseeded Fares Mohamed Dessouki.
Abouelghar disposed of Thomas Ford (England) in four games while Dessouki upset second seeded Clinton Leeuw (RSA) also in four games.
