South African Alexandra Fuller and Egyptian Marwan Elshorbagy were named the PSA’s (Professional Squash Player Association) women’s and men’s players of the month respectively for May.
Ranked 3 in the world, Shorbagy annexed the El Gouna International Men’s title defeating fellow Egyptian Ali Farag in the recent final in Egypt.
Capetonian Fuller collected two consecutive PSA titles – the Assore Balwin Gauteng Open in Johannesburg, followed by the Keith Grainger Memorial UCT Open in Cape Town – to take her PSA title tally to 6. Her opponent in both finals was Milnay Louw, who succumbed each time in straight games. The two victories sees Fuller ranked at a personal career high of 58 with Louw sitting at 67. The Landman twins, Elani and Lume, presently coaching in the USA, are ranked 134 an 167 respectively.
Tristan Eysele still leads the South Africa charge at 131, but J P Brits, winner of the Assore Balwin Gauteng Open in Johannesburg in April, who had jumped 57 places to 208 at the beginning of April, jumped a further 49 points to sit at 159 – a personal high.
Ruan Olivier Iies at 265 while Christo Potgieter moved 69 places from 341 to 272.
