SA Schools and Squash SA Junior rankings — 9 Comments

  1. Hi,
Iam gathering email and cell phone detail for all matric girls in order to keep them informed of club activity and possible recruitment after school and varsity.
The girls leave matric and go off to varsity and have no idea of club activity and that it exists.
I will be sending out a newsletter once a year or so, in order to keep the communication active.
Please could you pass this through the channels
tks cindy – (coach at saints)
they can send their detail to cindy@better-deal.co.za or sms to 0829279629

    • Dear Cindy
Thank you for the interest. Communication is one of the biggest challenges facing every facet of South African life.
Congratulations on your initiative and I wish you much success.
      Regards, Liz Addison

  2. Hi Folks
I see the juniors rankings was last updated on 12 November 2012. Is there a later more current ranking available?
    Regards

  3. Hi Squash SA. I would like to thank you for the time you have put in and money put in for squash development mostly in the juniors.I see that this year there won’t be a squash tour for the juniors which is understandable, but for them it’s heartbreaking because some of them have been training hard thinking there would be a tour. And only to find that there is no tour, so I was thinking why not have a tour here in SA instead, just for them to get to know each other. THe under 16 and 19’s would be very pleased to get to know they’re squash mates. Please think about this seriously and how much happiness this will bring to our kids.By doing so we will also be encouraging the under 14’s and 13’s to train hard.

  4. Dear Jessica
Thank you for your comments. I do not know what area you are from but it would appear that the news from the S A Schools Convention held last year in Port Elizabeth in August has not filtered down.
It was actually proposed and agreed at the Schools Convention in 2012 and re-emphasised in 2013 that the tour for the under 16’s and 19’s would be in December/January 2013/2014 and the next tour would be to Malaysia in May/June 2015.
To have had a tour 6 months after the previous tour would have been very expensive for the parents involved as the under 16 players would basically be the same having moved up to under 19.
Interestingly, it has been debated for many years about an internal tour and it has always been passed over in favour of an overseas tour.
At one stage the top under 19 boys were entered as a team at the Jarvis Cup – the senior interprovincial played in July of a year.
Thank you for your interest and I hope that – and I am presuming you have children playing – that they enjoy their squash and the camaraderie for many years to come.
    Liz

  5. Hi, my daughter (14) and my son (11) are very interested in playing squash, they have been for a little training and my daughter plays for her school, unfortunately the primary school does not have squash. Where do I start getting them more involved in squash, outside of school? Regards
    Collett

      • Hi Collett,

I do hope you get this and my info I s still relevant. Either way, as long as you have got the answers that is what matters.

What area of Johannesburg do you live in? There are pockets of activity dotted around JHB but I have come to realize that the squash fraternity is not big on promotion. In order to find out anything is like getting blood out of a stone. However, once you are in the know, it’s all relatively simple. Give us some more details on your location and I’m sure we can connect you with an active club near you.

        All the best, Trish
