Rogue tournaments

Chairpersons – Provincial/Regional Associations

Dear All

Squash South Africa (“SSA”) is tasked with issuing the official Squash Calendar for 2019. The calendar shall co-ordinate and streamline all tournaments and championships for 2019 and allow for reliable rankings. The calendar is set to operate nationwide and will be binding on all subsidiaries of SSA. The calendar is not subject to the discretion of subsidiaries of SSA and serves as a compulsory schedule for all.

In order to be considered for the 2019 calendar or to add an event all Tournament Organisers need to submit their Accreditation Forms to SSA no later than Friday, 2 November 2018 at 18h00. The final calendar shall be distributed by SSA no later than Friday, 16 November 2018.

Late submissions will be considered by SSA and its Tournament Committee, only if accompanied by a letter of motivation. If accepted, such tournaments may be allocated at the discretion of SSA to whatever available spots the final calendar may still allow for belated additions. It is important to note that the final calendar is directed at avoiding clashes and that no subsequent changes to the officially allocated dates will be allowed if it creates clashes. Late submissions will have to accept whatever dates SSA may afford them, if at all.

All tournaments and their organisers who do not comply with, or who do not receive accreditation and/or allocated dates from SSA will be considered “rogue tournaments”. All players who participate in rogue tournaments will forthwith be banned with the result that such player shall not be allowed to participate in events that were properly accredited by SSA for a period of 12 months since the date of said rogue tournaments. Such players will also not be considered for national selection during the period of their ban.
